Fall 2024 Available Now!
About Keenan Burton, Creative Director.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Started as a model for the Lamb Chops brand in 2019 and that’s also when I first met Jordan Dye. From then on, I was so impressed with how well the quality of the clothes was I wanted to model for them again. After had a sit down with Jordan told him how much I believed in the brand because of the quality of the clothes, the story behind the brand, and his character.
Those were the 3 things that had me sold on being a part of the team. In the beginning, I was just the social media manager but in a year, my title expanded and evolved into becoming the creative director. I still do the socials but the things you see on socials, design of clothes, and aesthetics are also me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In my opinion, nothing is ever a smooth road when it comes to life and doing something new. But no, I kind of just hopped right into it and there was a learning curve with the socials and how to operate in response to our audience.
Also learning about designing, sampling, sizing, and ordering the clothes while being mindful of the timing of releasing them. I’d say about now we’re getting the hang of it with staying organized and knowing what needs to be done at certain times to meet deadlines.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I design the clothes and what should be in the collections and how they should look. There are some signature pieces in our collection that were made before I came in that I’ll never touch because that’s just what we’re known for. But as far as adding new things and new looks I have no problem doing it. I see myself as a fashionable person so I keep my eyes and ears on what’s coming up on the fashion scene.
I love making music as well. Being a music artist has helped me be more creative and open to new things that arise since music and fashion go together so well. I’m most proud of one of our hoodies that I created, sized, and hand-picked the color sold out. I was all smiles that day for sure. What sets me apart is my hair. I stick out like a sore thumb. But on my creative side I’d say is my vulnerability and communicating that into what I set my sights on.
What does success mean to you?
You can go so many different ways with this question but it’s your happiness. Like did you achieve the goal you set out for yourself to accomplish and how did it make you feel once you did?
I’m a person that doesn’t celebrate my accomplishments a lot because I’m already onto the next thing or seeing what could’ve been better. It’s a blessing and a curse that robs you of the happiness you feel.
